Hi! I’m Sue and
I’m glad
you’re here!

Professionally~

In 2016, I pivoted into working in higher education and earned my Masters in Educational Counseling. Since 2019, I’ve leveraged my counseling and soft skills and experiences in the private sector and with non-profits into creating a new holistic counseling program at my current institution for Pre-medical/Pre-health post-bacc career pivoters and academic enhancers.

I grew from being the sole counselor into being the program’s Assistant Director of Counseling. Some recent accomplishments include: developing campus and community collaborations, fostering community spaces for working adults, and supporting colleagues’ professional development. Beyond my administrative duties, I still manage a caseload of specialized individual sessions, facilitate short-term psychoeducational groups, and deliver skills-based webinars.

Educational Highlights~

Google Certificates in Data Analytics and Advanced Data Analytics

University of Southern California, M.Ed. Educational Counseling

Rutgers University, B.A. Anthropology and History

Insight LA, Mindful Self-Compassion Core Skills Training

Crisis Text Line, Crisis Counselor

I take a whole-person and community-centered approach in all I do.

Personally~

I’m a multi-ethnic, in-betweener who’s continuously seeking a balance in that in-betweener life. My mom died in my early 20s and I’ve been navigating life and my evolving relationship with her ever since. I’m an outspoken cancer, and mental and emotional health advocate, and occasional comedian.

I’m a first-generation college graduate who didn’t know the questions to ask and missed out on different opportunities during and after college. As a counselor, I support students as whole people (not just as learners), answer those unasked questions, and genuinely show up for each person I meet.

Some of my values~

  • authenticity

  • being and belonging; community

  • presence

  • respect

Mundane facts~
